HandsFree 2 – Calls & SMS using Android phone 2.6.4
The app was not found in the store. :-(
HandsFree 2 turns your Mac into a powerful handsfree device so you can use the built-in microphone and speakers (or use a USB headset) to make phone calls, manage text messages (SMS and receive MMS) or record important conversations.
It works with almost any Bluetooth enabled phone (including Android, Windows Phone and iOS*). HandsFree 2 guides you through the pairing and connecting, then provides you with an always available menu bar icon so you can quickly use your phone without having to get it. You can even leave it in another room or your pocket.
It’s like OS X Continuity except for everyone and with more features. Download it today and see how awesome it is to use your phone through your Mac.
Check out what you can do right on your Mac:
• Make and receive phone calls
• Send and receive text messages (SMS) *
• Receive images through text messages (MMS) *
• Record important conversations
• View missed, incoming and outgoing call lists.
• View existing text messages.
• Notifications for missed calls and low battery
• AppleScript support
• Contacts plugins and PopClip extensions
* – Some features are not available on iOS devices. Android requires version 4.4 or higher for text messaging support.
What’s New in Version 2.6.4
Fixed potential crashes on app startup.
Includes changes from v2.6.3:
Displaying the status of the phone below the name so it’s more obvious what the app is doing, especially on startup.
Added menu option to easily reconnect to the phone if it failed.
Issue where the app would not be able to connect to the phone.
Issue where if the app didn’t have access to the Mac based contacts, the text messaging feature would be unavailable.
Issue where no suggestions would be displayed for contacts when sending a text message if the app didn’t have access to the Mac based contacts.
Issue where the dial pad window would not have the name of phone as its title.
Crash if the app was unable to access the MAS (Message Access Server) on the phone for the text messaging feature.
Potential crash if the app disconnected from the phone.
Potential crash after a call was finished.
Second potential crash after a call was finished. This time it was a bug in macOS that we implemented a unique workaround for.
Minor memory leak when receiving a text message.
The app will no longer beachball when downloading and parsing the phonebooks (contacts, missed + incoming + outgoing calls).
The app is now using a custom vCard parser so it can still process the phonebooks if it doesn’t have access to the Contacts framework.
